VLANs defined by IT

Ideally this should link to some documentation provided by IT, but as this is not known to be available, here is what is known about the VLAN configuration.

ST IT is moving towards using three VLANs to seperate different equipment at layer 2. This has impact on how we access the lab machines, as we use their network both in netlab and when accessing the machines from elsewhere.

Firewalling/port-forwarding needs to be considered when crossing between VLANs.

ST-TRUST

Trusted machines managed by ST IT. The name and the description needs to be confirmed

ST-SEMITRUST

Machines not managed by ST IT. E.g. office PCs. The name and the description needs to be confirmed

ST-UNTRUST

VLAN: 518 Lab machines etc. that might cause problems in the office network. Our web servers should be placed here.
